The Business Continuity Manager will drive sustainable, repeatable and quantifiable improvements to these processes aimed at resilience and risk reduction. The primary responsibilities will be to enhance and/or develop and implement policies and procedures for effective Business Continuity programs; ensure documentation of processes are in place and are accurate; communicate requirements and lead projects to implement policies, procedures, and controls, as necessary; and perform periodic program reviews. They will ensure the proper management and maintenance of governance programs that support the business as well as a set of policies, procedures, and controls that is applied to technology across the organization to enforce corporate standards and assure regulatory compliance.
As the Business Continuity Manager, the individual shall manage day to day execution of the Business Continuity programs across the organization. These activities include but are not limited to:
- Disaster & Technical Recovery
- Business Impact Analysis
- Business Continuity Planning
- Liaison with Crisis/Emergency Management and Communications
Responsibilities
- Implement and conduct periodic Business Impact Analysis and manage the Business Continuity Management program
- Working with various departments enterprise-wide to develop and maintain up-to-date business continuity plans using a risk-based approach
- Building and scaling a technical Disaster Recovery program
- Developing and conducting business continuity and disaster recovery training and exercises
- Extensive experience in conducting tabletop and functional exercises across business functions
- Implement tools to support BCP & DR including desktop testing software, BCM software, and emergency communication software
- Serves as point of contact for any identified resilience issues and risks within the business
- Ensures proper coverage across the organization with global Business Continuity Plan owners
- Provides management, leadership, and direction to building, maintaining and enhancing Business Continuity Plans
- Assumes a leadership role in understanding dependencies in the business and incorporate them into Business Continuity plans
- Accountable for identification, understanding, management, mitigation, remediation or acceptance of all continuity risks and issues assigned to the organization globally
- Communicates with senior members of the Bank on plan status including significant enhancements or issues that could impact continuity planning
- Works with respective departments across the organization to ensure effective understanding of Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Recovery strategies
Skills and Experience
- 6+ years progressive experience in business continuity, disaster recovery, and risk management, with at least 2 years managing a business continuity program
- Experience working with global compliance standards and business continuity planning/frameworks
- Ability to analyze, communicate, articulate governance and compliance trends and program requirements
- Experience in working with modern cloud infrastructure, Software as a Service (SaaS), and Platform as a Service (SaaS) environments
- Preferred experience in high growth startup environments or implementing BCP and DR programs
- Experience in financial services industry
- Strong project planning and project management experience
- Proven ability to establish and manage “dotted-line” business relationships to deliver agreed outcomes/deliverables
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel across the organization
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and appropriately based on audience with excellent facilitation and customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications, critical thinking skills, effective interpersonal skills, strong formal presentation abilities
- Ability to be flexible and work effectively with ambiguity and change
- Legal right to work in the United States
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, finance, computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related discipline preferred
- Industry certifications such as CBCP, ISO22301, CRISC will be prioritized.
