Our direct client in Midtown, NYC is seeking a Linux Administrator/Infrastructure Engineer . This position is a 3 plus month contract and this candidate will report to the Head of Infrastructure.
Provide hands on management of the bank’s Linux environments. This includes but is not limited to deployment, configuration management, patching, and support. This includes implementation and support of almost every component in the tech-stack, from the user’s edge device all the way to the target application or platform.
In order to provide this level of support, the ideal candidate will be able to perform the following:
Hands on management of the bank’s Linux environments. This includes but is not limited to deployment, configuration management, patching, support.
Coordination with application teams to ensure all O/S patches are tested before migration to production environments
Work with the infrastructure team to manage secure configurations for all Linux assets.
Having a solid working experience and understanding of Infrastructure basics, Windows Active Directory, VMWare, basic networking
Shift Flexibility – Work off hours at times and between shifts to accomplish a multitude of tasks, which cannot be performed during bank hours. These tasks include but are not limited too; patching, change control, configuration management and system upgrades.
Build relationships with internal application & data owners and main stakeholders of the platforms. Communicate change events and time lines to IDB stakeholders.
Create comprehensive documentation for new deployments and changes to existing systems
On-call rotation schedule for after-hours support.
Closely adhere to IDB’s Change Management and Security policies and procedures.
Provide peer support for project requirements and deliverables
Extensive knowledge of standard system tools with the ability to use them to automate complex system tasks.
Extensive knowledge of physical networking and network protocols, services and security including: TCP-IP, Switching, Routing, VLAN’s, VoIP, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Kerberos, NFS and Samba.
Good understanding of file systems including ZFS and the various RAID options availableVMWare experience required
Redhat certification is a plus.

5+ Years Linux (Redhat preferred)
3+ Years ITIL methodologies
3+ Years VMware Vsphere 5.5+, 6.5
3+ Years within a financial services organization
HP Hardware
Experience with the following tools is a distinct plus(ServiceNow, CyberArk, ArcSight, CarbonBlack, IBM Datapower)
